About Jennifer
Jennifer Goodwin is the CEO of Jennifer Goodwin Companies, the umbrella brand of profitable websites committed to:
- Helping others around the world understand how to leverage technology and the internet to earn more time and make more money.
- Informing people around the world how to lead healthier lives through nutrition and positive lifestyles.
Jennifer grew up in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Elementary education failed to challenge her agile young mind, so she took on college level studies during her grade-school years. Her future was obviously bright, but turbulence in her home life intervened on her educational plans, leading to her choice to join the work force rather than attend college.
Over the next decade, Jennifer repeatedly tried to fit herself into the corporate mold. She was frustrated by repetitive work and strict timetables. Her supervisors frowned on her strong tendency to speak her mind. These problems arose in job after job, industry after industry. She tried insurance, banking, car sales, bartending, flying planes, graduated from the police academy, managed large events (and so many odd jobs that she’s convinced that the IRS has a ‘Jennifer Room” for training new agents). During these early years Jennifer lived in North Carolina, New Jersey, and Connecticut, creating the groups “New Jersey Young Professionals” and “Connecticut Young Professionals” along the way as a means of feeding her desire for Business and Social Networking.

Eventually, Jennifer discovered a strong interest in architecture and quickly secured a degree in Architectural Technology graduating with a 3.98 grade point average. Within six months, Jennifer was up an runnig with her first Virtual Business.
Designer Drafting, Inc. was born and even exhibited in the country’s largest Kitchen and Bath Show. Client leads were coming to her in overwhelming numbers. She was putting in 50 to 60 hours per week, but not generating the 7 figure revenue she has her sights set on.
Undaunted, Jennifer set out to find a more streamlined and efficient approach to growing her business. She considered hiring help. She considered employing customized software to automate some of mundane tasks that were eating up her time. She ran into the same problem on both fronts: a lack of investment capital. Jennifer finally decided she would get a second job to earn the money needed to develop the software solution she needed.
Jennifer sold everything in her New Jersey home, packed up her SUV and drove across the country to work in Las Vegas by relying on her extensive bartending, catering and event management skills. Las Vegas was perfect for reducing the expenses (for a non-gambler like Jennifer) but she found the pervading atmosphere lacking in the sense of loyalty and honestly she sought. It wasn’t long before Jennifer packed her bags and moved back to the East coast even more determined to make her dreams become a reality.
Jennifer was willing to work for someone else on a temporary basis in order to fund the dreams she was building on the side. She was confident that with her background (and tweaked resume) she could have a handful of jobs to pick from in New York City within a week. She made a full time job out of job hunting. For forty hours each week, she placed resume ads, set up interviews, followed through and followed-up on interviews. After three months of this without result, she at the peak of discouragement. Finally, when she was down to her last $250, Jennifer was offered a 3-day trial at a world-renowned lighting designer’s office.
At the end of the trial period, as she was exiting the Port Authority bus in New Jersey, the recruiter called with good news. “It looks like the past three days you’ve spent working as a trial have sealed the deal. Everything is a go and the boss loves you! You’ll start Monday and within six months, your salary will double.” Finally! Life was cutting her a break and just in the nick of time.
But five minutes later, her cell phone rang again. This time, the recruiter’s tone was glum. “Jennifer, I have some horrible news. The boss just realized that he needs to slow down business so he can move his office in 16 weeks over the holidays and therefore he cannot take on payroll until the first of the year.” Jennifer was crushed. She had finally hit the point of true despair. She was done, kicked, drained, finished. Through her tears, she silently screamed her frustration to the universe “Why? I’ve done everything I’m ‘supposed’ to do. I’ve busted my butt to get a ‘real job’ like I was fighting for my life!”
Suddenly, in her lowest moment, Jennifer felt a wave of security wash over her and an internal voice spoke to her. “You are about to go through something amazing. Everything is going to be okay. You are not meant to go down that other path.”
Jennifer raced home with giddy anticipation. She had no idea what was about to happen but she was so overwhelmed with a feeling of confidence in her future, there was no room for doubt. Her life was about to change. She went straight to her computer upon reaching the beautiful three-story townhouse she rented for $500 per month from her roommate (who owned the property). Jennifer made short work of creating a plan for 7-day emergency money, 30 day breathing money, 90 day “never make a financial mistake again” money.

She looked out her window and saw where she was living: A 600 unit gated community complete with a pool, fitness center, and other desirable amenities. These homes not only cost an average of $500,000 each but most of the owners were New York City commuters. For the first time, Jennifer acknowledged that not only was she surrounded by people with money, but that she was just as deserving of having it as they were.
With those thoughts, a flyer was born. Jennifer called her community’s management office and asked, “When does the next quarterly newsletter go out?” To which the receptionist answered, “Tomorrow.” Nervously, Jennifer asked if there was still time to contribute a flyer. The answer was “Yes,” but it would require $100 and the flyers would have to be delivered to the office that evening.
Remember that $250 that Jennifer was down to? She was so sure about the payoffs, she gave not a second’s thought to walking straight to Kinko’s (gas was far beyond the reach of her budget at the moment), printing out 600 copies of the flyer she’d just created, and dropping them off at the office with the requisite $100. She walked home with crossed fingers and spent the next couple of days peering out her window, hoping to see the newsletters placed on her neighbors’ doors.
And then it started. The flyers started appearing on doors. The phone calls started pouring in. Within one week of her leap of faith, Jennifer had $1000 and an invitation to join in a networking meeting. That meeting brought her to key people who became part of her client base. Suddenly, business and life were falling into place for Jennifer, and at an amazing pace. She was finally headed down her own path, one that had been waiting on her for years.
That one little flyer soon became her Virtual Assistant website and Jennifer was off and running in the world of online business. She was inspired, grateful, determined and committed to always making strategic decisions, strategic partnerships and to help others by providing them with knowledge and opportunities so that they can live their dreams now. Since then, Jennifer has studied everything about marketing correctly, acting strategically, and making money efficiently online.
